What is a flush valve?
A flush valve is an essential component of any commercial bathroom. It controls the flushing system and tank filling functions within the toilet or urinal. The flush valve is connected to the toilet or urinal flush tank, so both parts must be kept in good working condition. If you have a faulty flush valve, your toilet or urinal cannot dispose of wastewater safely and effectively.
What is the difference between a flush plate and a flush valve?
A flush plate is the visible button or panel used to activate the flushing mechanism of a concealed cistern. It is typically installed on the wall and works in conjunction with a concealed cistern to flush wall-hung or back-to-wall toilet pans.
On the other hand, a flush valve is the mechanism that controls the release of water into the toilet pan. It can be installed internally within a cistern or externally as an exposed unit. Unlike flush plates, flush valves connect directly to the mains water supply or a water tank and do not require a concealed cistern to function.
How do flush valves work?
A flush valve controls the release of water from the tank into the toilet bowl or urinal. It is operated by pressing the button on the flush valve, which allows water to flow through and clear waste.
Some flush valves are manual, activated by simply pushing a button at the front. Others are automatic, using infrared sensor technology. With automatic valves, no action is required by the user the flush is triggered once the sensor no longer detects movement, ensuring hands-free convenience and improved hygiene.
