How Can You Tell If a Tile Is Porcelain?
Porcelain tiles have a water absorption rate of less than 0.5%, making them more water-resistant than ceramic tiles. To check the difference, you can do a quick water absorption test: place a few drops of water on the back of the porcelain tile. If the tile absorbs the water quickly, it is likely not a porcelain tile. This is why we highly recommend using a strong tile adhesive, rather than regular cement, when installing porcelain tiles.
